Paris by night

An absolutely gorgeous shot of the Eiffel Tower (if I do say so myself!) taken at f/4.0 and 1.3 seconds. I was lucky to get the red streaking tail lights of the cars to lend colour to an otherwise relatively bland photo. I never thought I'd ever be able to capture a photo as nice as this in my life. I had studied French (the language, not the chicks) during high school, and to finally be able to visit the Eiffel Tower and ascend it to the 3rd deck was a phenomenal experience I'll never forget.

The Parisians were, without hyperbole, a bunch of rude mofos, but then I had expected this, especially with thousands of foreigners swarming their city during the height of tourist season. Paris has a very heterogeneous ethnic mix of residents as well as visitors, which in my book is always a good thing. Let me pass this observation about Paris: In all my life, I have been to only two places in the world with an extremely heterogeneous multi-cultural/multi-ethnic mix. One was at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena at UCLA football games. The other was at the top of the Eiffel Tower. July 15, 2002.
